Antiracist Books for Babies and Kids
There's a lot of turmoil and discord in our world right now. It hurts to turn on the tv and see how many hurting people there are in our world, and how much hate there is.
It's important to always look out for the love in our world, and to contribute to it when we can. It's also so important to educate ourselves. It is equally important to educate our children, even babies, because implicit racial biases happen even without us knowing, and it is imperative that we teach our children equality as early as we can. It's uncomfortable, especially if you're a person of privilege who isn't sure where to start, but it's necessary.
As much as possible, I linked to black-owned bookshops that can be bought from online. Please also check out this list of local black-owned bookstores in case there are any in your area!

In this retelling of Rapunzel, Rapunzel has dreadlocks and is rescued by a prince riding a Zebra!
This is a really beautiful book and I burst into tears reading it. Sulwe has darker skin than the rest of her family, which causes her a lot of distress. In addition, other children call Sulwe names like "darkie" and Sulwe must learn to accept herself, the way everyone should.

This is a tough read, but an important one. This book talks about inherent white privilege, why white people need to be active in the fight for justice, and why racism is a white person's problem, too.
